This is Us
What does Britain look like today?
“This Is Us” is an ongoing environmental portrait project exploring the people, places and stories that make up Britain today.
The Project
Britain is often described through statistics, headlines and competing versions of what the country is or should be.
This project is interested in something simpler: the people who actually live here.
This Is Us is a collection of environmental portraits made in the places where people live, work and spend their time. The surroundings matter as much as the person. They provide clues about a life, a community and a particular moment in time.
There is no attempt to define what Britain looks like, or to tell the viewer what to think.
Instead, the project is about looking closely at the people who make up the country — one portrait at a time.
Who should be here?
This Is Us is an evolving project, and it will grow through conversations, introductions and chance encounters.
I'm interested in photographing people from all walks of life — people whose work, lives, interests, communities or stories form part of the Britain we live in today.
You don't have to consider yourself interesting. You might simply know someone who should be photographed.
If you'd like to take part, or would like to suggest somebody else, I'd like to hear from you.
