Selected Collaborations

Over the years I’ve had the pleasure to work with some very interesting, talented and well-known people and I have always been grateful for the opportunities my camera has given me.

Here are a selection of some of those experiences:

Ben Ottewell

In 2025 Ben Ottewell (originally from the band Gomez) was playing a festival I was covering.

I have been a fan of Ben’s solo work for a number of years, after first hearing his “Shapes and Shadows” album.

Backstage after his set I chatted with him and I came away that evening rather pleased with myself for getting some great shots of Ben, seeing him perform live and getting to meet him.

A week or so later I get email from Ben asking if I could license him one of the images I took that evening. Ben explained he was off on a solo tour of the United States and wanted to use my image for the promotion of that tour.

Of course I was more than happy to oblige.

Experiences like this are incredibly gratifying, over and above the financial reward. To have your work singled out, and from a performer I have long admire is priceless.

Cosmic Rays

One of the first groups I photographed under my LOUD+CLEAR service was Cosmic Rays.

This five-piece band comprises some very talented musicians who write and record original material. And in their line-up (on drums) is the comic book artist behind “The Walking Dead” series - Charlie Adlard.

My approach to a promo shoot like the one for Cosmic Rays, is first to meet them and just talk. I don’t even bring my camera for that first sessions.

This is important as I need to understand the band more than just listening to their music - what are their influences, what are their expectations from the shoot, anything to avoid and how they intend to use the images afterwards. The more I find out, the better the shoot will go.

It’s also good for building a relationship with the band and nurturing trust.

I then go away and draw up a photoshoot brief based on what they have told me. This includes location, style, suggested clothes to wear. Pretty much anything that will help reflect what the band is about.

After sharing my proposal with Cosmic Rays we agreed on a convenient time and location.

This approach works so much better than just turning up with a camera and winging it. The resultant images better reflect who Cosmic Rays are, balancing their own individuality whilst also representing them as a cohesive group of musicians.

Glasgow Gallery of Photography

I’m proud to have exhibited my work with the Glasgow Gallery of Photography, an independent gallery dedicated to showcasing contemporary photographers from around the world, and I’m delighted to have another piece selected for an exhibition later in 2026. Having work selected for exhibition has provided an opportunity to present my photography alongside a diverse range of artists and to share my practice with a wider audience.

My involvement with the gallery reflects an ongoing commitment to developing my artistic practice through exhibition and public engagement. Opportunities such as these allow my work to be viewed beyond the screen, encouraging conversations about atmosphere, experience and the expressive possibilities of photography that continue to shape my creative journey.

The photo shown is one from a series taken in the same style of the image chosen. At the time of writing I am unable to publicly share this image until the exhibition has started.
