With its sights, sounds and smells, a walk in the forest can be a very sensual experience and one I enjoy immensely. So whenever I can you'll find me with camera in hand taking a stroll through the trees.
Aside from the health benefits of walking, trees are also shown to have particular positive effects on our health and wellbeing (check out the work of Dr William Bird around the comparison of being active outdoors with others compared to working out in a gym).
On one of my recent jaunts I was struck by how interesting the forest floor appeared to me, so I began capturing images of the ground beneath my feet. Returning to a familiar format I have presented some of these images here in a montage which I think really capture that sensual experience of a walk through the woods.
