The Kremlin

Paid a visit to another remote Shropshire location today - Titterstone Clee Hill, one of the highest hills in the County.

It's had an interesting past being a former quarry for dhustone used in road building, and is now home to National Air Traffic Service's radar domes. So with its industrial remains and the radar domes its certainly an interesting place.

Just down from Titterstone Clee Hill is, or was, a pub by the name of The Kremlin. This area of Shropshire is the highest point eastwards until the Russian Ural mountains. As such, in the 1980's the pub's jukebox, telephone and TV would sometimes pick up radio signals from Russian, hence the pub's unusal name. Sadly, like so many pubs it is closed now.
